2024 Senior Property Tax Freeze Program

Dear Seniors,

Hunterdon County’s Commissioner Board would like to remind senior citizen homeowners that the income eligibility for the state’s Senior Property Tax Freeze program for 2023 filing season has been raised to $150,000.00, and the application filing deadline is fast approaching on October 31, 2024.

Ensuring that our seniors are aware of property tax relief programs like the Senior Freeze is important part of my responsibilities as liaison to the Division of Senior, Disabilities, and Veterans Services. The Senior Freeze Program reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled persons for property tax or mobile home park site fee increases on their principal residence.

To qualify, an applicant must meet all the eligibility requirements for the year, from the base year through the application year. The deadline for filing is coming up at the end of October, and I want to get the word out to qualified claimants in enough time.

Qualifying residents have the option to apply and check the status of their application at: www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/ptr

A printable version of the application can be found at:

Sincerely,

Shaun C. Van Doren
Hunterdon County Commissioner
